Pros: Highly Forgiving Wedge
Cons: Nothing
Rating: 4.7/5

The shape and forgiveness of the Ping iWedges provides the confidence and control to play delicate approach shots or blast shots from bunkers. The Ping iWedge unique ‘Sand Cup’ sole really makes this a very easy club to hit. The versatility and performance of the original Ping Eye 2 sand wedge inspired the design of the Ping iWedge. Based on the cult classic Eye 2 wedge that many Tour players still use, the updated iWedge has the same sole design and centre of gravity as the original.

Borrowing the proven engineering advancements of the tour favorite including the concave sole the iWedge’s Sand Cup design positions the pivot point further from the lead edge and features an aggressively tapered heel and toe.

Even though the spec says the bounces are quite high, the design of the sole means that the leading edge lies flat to the ground with just a minor forward movement of the hands. This combination gets the wedge under the ball quickly in the sand or from turf and prevents digging. The deep, multi-level cavity maximizes forgiveness and positions the center of gravity (CG) toward the center of the face and low for a solid feel. This wedge gives a soft feel during impact and gives the player soft landing on the greens providing certain amount of spin.

The U-shaped groove profile imparts optimal spin for control from all conditions. The clubface can be opened or closed with confidence to play any shot. The feel from the face is great, although maybe not as crisp as a soft forged blade wedge. However this is more than balanced out by the performance of the club.
